NOTES:
A Template is the Design Tool that is used for the creation of content for Print.  It is a WYSIWYG Tool where you can draw, add text and images, variable data fields & set properties. With a bit of practice, anyone should be able to use this Tool.
Before you begin to create Template, you should make sure that you are using a modern browser.  The preferred browser is Firefox 3.01, though IE 7 is acceptable. You will also need the FlashPlayer, preferably vsn 10 (though 9.x will work), which can be found at:
FlashPlayer 10
Using a Template is one of the *WoW* features of your HRCS.  This is where you would design projects for print, such as customized Employee Benefit Statements, memos or any type of employee mailing.
A Template can also be used to design create Reports.  Once you have designed your report, it can be run anytime with the click of a button.
Finally, a Template can be used to create HTML reports & Gifs.  Any object you draw will also create a GIF, which can also be used later within Applications or Websites.
Go to your Menu, New -> Template.
Name your Template and give it a description.  Click Create.
Your Template will begin to open, progressively loading a variety of Tools.
This process usually requires approximately 25 seconds, depending on the speed of your connection, your FlashPlayer version and the 'speed' of your PC/Mac or Linux box.  You will see a staus bar that informs you of your progess.
To watch a Movie that will show you what to expect, click the Movie 'New Template' in the links above.  You may also 'play' with a partially enabled 'Template' by going to:
This Design feature is an advanced use of a programming language called Actionscript.  When you 'draw' and Save, you are Saving extremely descriptive XML.  This XML can be given to another Department in your organization and then they can create their OWN Template by merely importing the xml.
In short - you can share complex designs with anyone, anywhere that have their own HRCS. This makes a Template portable & collaborative.
